Look Out For The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger is an upcoming action western film that is being directed by Gore Verbinski, director of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Weather Man and most recently Rango. The film will be based off of the original 1933 radio show and will feature Armie Hammer in the lead role as The Lone Ranger as well as Johnny Depp playing Tonto. The film will also feature supporting roles from Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper and William Fichtner.

It was announced way back in 2008 that Johnny Depp would be portraying Tonto and that led to much debate as to whether or not it was the right choice. Many people thought that Tonto should be portrayed by a Native American, which the character is, but I believe that the right choice was made. Johnny Depp is one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood today and he is sure to play the part magnificently and will definitely help the film to make back its $215 million budget because of his huge fanbase and following.

The film is set to release on May 31, 2013 and I will most likely be in line for a ticket at my local movie theaters' box office to get a chance to see it. I believe that it was perfectly cast and it will be interesting to see the on-screen chemistry between Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. This is definitely one film to look forward to next year.
